Salesforce Engage: Connect Pardot to Salesforce

What do you like best?

The top two things I like about Engage are that 1) the email templates are built in Pardot and 2) Sales reps can send emails themselves, plus view reports independently. The reporting for marketing is also available in Pardot and based on the template, so if you send in bulk via Pardot and then a sales rep sends a few on their own through Engage, the sends are combined in the Pardot template report (although the rep can't view vice versa in Salesforce Engage). The Pardot email templates are found in the Engage email library in Salesforce, which is awesome. I like that you can send an Engage email directly from a contact, lead, or even a group through a campaign. Engage Team Reports is my favorite feature. I am able to quickly track all emails sent through any time period and any template (sent by sales).

What do you dislike?

There is nothing that I dislike about Salesforce Engage. There are limitations that I believe should be mentioned before purchasing the product. A reminder that Engage is for the sales team, not marketing for sending, so there are reasons for these limitations. First, the max send per person, per day is 500 emails, which is reasonable. However, there is a 200 max per send, which doesn't really make sense other than that's the default for all email sending through Salesforce. When sending Engage emails to campaigns, you have to keep them at 200 people or fewer, otherwise, you can't get through sending. It would just make sense if it was 500 like the max per day per person. Another caveat is that my sales reps get confused as to whether they should send 1:1 Engage emails or regular 1:1 List emails through Salesforce. Lastly, it should be obvious by now, but you need Pardot in order to have Engage.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Pardot, it wasn't simple to send individual emails. My sales team would create their lists in Salesforce campaigns, and I would push those campaigns to Pardot lists. However, there would always be those "1 or 2" people they forgot to add before sending. With Engage, they can send those "one-offs" on their own. In addition, now my sales team takes more ownership of their email lists and can curate lists of their own for sending. As a 2 person marketing team, this frees up more of my time for other things.
