Advanced user of Skyward Student Management SuiteSkyward makes the day-to-day tasks of teaching simple. While systems or methods I've used in the past slowed my workflow as a classroom teacher, Skyward's best attribute is that daily tasks -namely attendance and grade tracking- are simple and seamless, allowing the work of teaching to continue with minimal interruption. I can enter a grade for multiple courses at one time; I can adjust attendance for multiple days from a single screen; I can determine how my grades are calculated, and I can integrate Skyward with our LMS to make grade entry instantaneous, rather than tedious.
The grade change process for a closed grading period could be simplified. Otherwise, Skyward does more than I would ever need it to do.
Now that I help run my school's virtual program, I have learned more about the student management side of Skyward; I use it multiple times a day to quickly pull a transcript, check a current schedule, or look at a student's discipline history. Being able to carry these tasks out efficiently keeps me moving forward on the variety of tasks I have to complete when enrolling a student in our district, or into courses in one of the LMS's we employ. Furthermore, Skyward integrates with our LMS. It's easier for me to encourage teachers to use the LMS when I let them know that doing so saves them time. They no longer need to hand enter grades with grade pass back.
