Advanced user of IntaglioI can drag and drop a great variety of image formats, vector-based and pixel-based, and Intaglio handles them effortlessly. Compared with Adobe Illustrator the learning curve is much less steep, selecting elements and acting on them in a variety of ways is intuitive.
The software does not receive regular updates, which is OK as far as new features are concerned (I don't need them), but is concerning when a new release of the operator system is imminent. So far nothing has broken, but for a tool that is such an essential part of my workflow I would want more assurance that it will continue to work in the forseeable future.
I am a happy user of Intaglio for some 25 years. If I would be choosing a pdf editor today, I would probably go for a tool that is more actively supported.
I am a scientist and use Intaglio to prepare publication quality illustrations of a technical nature. Typically combining graphs with insets, and in particular changing the fonts of the labels to match the text. There Intaglio shines, I can drag and drop pdf snippets of text (made with Latexit). Mathematica plots that are notoriously difficult to customize can now be edited with great ease, no need to tweak the Mathematica code.
