What do you like best?

TaxDome is a great all-in-one solution for tax practices looking to take their firm virtual. It combines many great features into one place - a client portal, CRM, workflow/task manager, and more. The client portal was what I was really looking for. No other software comes close to TaxDome here. You have the ability to collect questionnaires/organizers from your clients digitally (that can be customized to your liking), allow your clients to upload your documents, communicate with clients through an intuitive messaging system, and ultimately have your clients electronically sign tax documents using a built-in eSign functionality. The eSign functionality also now includes Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) to stay compliant with IRS eSignature regulations.

They also have a mobile app that they maintain which my clients seem to love.

What do you dislike?

TaxDome is a great solution, but sometimes it is apparent that it is a work-in-progress. This is not so much a "dislike" as just a cautionary note. The team is constantly developing new ideas and really listens to their users for input. They have a feature request board available to all firm users that you can go on and request features you'd like to see, and you are updated on if those features are planned for the future or are currently in development. They also have a private Facebook group just for firm users to keep updated on the new features in the software. There is a VERY open line of communication between the TaxDome development team and their firm clients. The owner/president of TaxDome is also very involved in the constant improvement of the software. It is very refreshing to see such constant work on an already-great product. However, sometimes it can be frustrating when you propose what you think are good solutions or new features, but the lack of support from other firm owners pushes them to the bottom of the development list. I understand this though, as it is based on a "votes" system, so if many firm owners want the feature, it gets pushed further to the top of the development list.

I must also say that in the beginning, I was very hesitant about the price. $600/year is pretty steep for a small tax firm. I also think for this price that the portal should be completely white-labeled, but my clients still see the TaxDome name plastered everywhere in the portal and on automated email notifications.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I highly recommend TaxDome for tax firm owners and accountants. The number of features that it includes makes it a great solution. If you're looking for a client portal, CRM, or anything similar as a tax firm owner, I think TaxDome will more than fit your needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Before TaxDome, I was utilizing another online tax portal software that only did half of what TaxDome does. I had a virtual solution to collect information and documents from clients and have them electronically sign their returns, but that was it. TaxDome has allowed me to branch out and allowed me to take my tax firm nearly 100% virtual. I can now complete a client's tax returns start-to-finish completely virtually. In the time of COVID-19, this is crucial, and I am glad I began to adopt TaxDome just before COVID-19. As TaxDome grows, I can see my firm growing with it.
