Tall Emu CRM Software - Be Wary of Integration Promises

What do you like best?

The CRM functionality of this program includes all the basics, this program began its life as a reasonable CRM, it has now however been rendered unstable through the efforts to transform the software into an ERP. Sales Reporting is quite flexible and any data recorded can usually be transformed into intuitive and helpful reports. You will need an extremely savvy IT person in house to develop these or they can be quite expensive to outsource this to TE Support. The grid presentation across all tabs stands out from other CRM programs allowing easy selection and export of data along with basic reporting functionality. There's

What do you dislike?

Integrating CRM Software into a business's sales and admin workflows is always a challenge. After over 2 years of unsuccessful integration efforts lets say this particular CRM Software offering comes with more built in pitfalls than most. Heavily advertised as the CRM solution that can connect to everything - it can connect, we'll give it that but the promises of pain-free integration have proved very hollow for us. We strongly suggest that you ask for references of their prior clients that are using exactly the same accounting software as you are utilising - we went by their word that Tall Emu integration and connection with MYOB was a doddle.... sadly this was not so and to date they have not yet delivered a stable solution to this. Support wise the support team is quite cordial although if you are not on a costly support plan you will likely receive an invoice following your support phone call. You will find them a little defensive and often it is not until you have managed to replicate the problem on-screen with their support personnel remotely watching that they will take you seriously. This of course proves time consuming and frustrating for the staff unlucky enough to stumble across these glitches. We have experienced more than a few communication hassles due to language barriers. In perspective... client experiences and feedback will make good software excellent on the flipside software vendors peddling under-developed software often unfairly utilise the client(at the clients expense) to develop their products. Perhaps one day this software and its vendor will come of age and finally offer great things, in the meantime - be wary.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

See references of their prior clients who have integrated the Tall Emu CRM System with other accounting software. If you do decide on Tall Emu have a water tight brief and intimate knowledge of what you need it to do and what success will look like.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

After unsuccessfully attempting to implement this software from recording the first contact with a client through to invoicing and monthly statements we have reverted back to basic CRM function alone which is what it was first built to do. Sales & Pipeline management are all taken care of within this system although reporting can prove difficult due to the manual interface between Tall Emu CRM and MYOB. Quoting on Tall Emu has proved more streamlined for custom manufactured items however standard inventory costs are not reliable due to its inability to handle the invoicing and procurement processes in our company. It has been an interesting excercise and our thoughts are to progress from Tall Emu CRM & MYOB to one proven ERP system to remove the inefficiencies in the transfer of data between systems.
