Advanced user of Stream FeedsWe needed a quick solution to add ultra-fast notifications and user activity into our app. Stream's API was really easy to implement and saved us a LOT of development time and money. The documentation is easy to understand and we've had few problems integrating it into our platform.
The API limits for deleting feeds are a bit harsh. The "explorer" in the dashboard is a bit buggy at times. Filtering feeds is not available yet (Dec 2018).
If you need to implement an activity stream or news feed quickly, consider Stream. There's a free trial and really fun 5 minute demo available on their website. It's also very reasonably priced.
We needed to implement a better activity/notification feed in a very limited amount of time. Stream fit the job perfectly. The feeds are quick to access and built-in aggregation logic is very powerful. We were able to complete the whole transition in about a week of development with only one developer working on it. Since then we've been adding more features to our app and are using Stream more and more each day. The Amazon SQS integration lets us push notifications to users in real time, and works well.
If we had tried to do this in-house, we would have ended up paying for these servers and databases ourselves, and we would need to have someone constantly monitoring, fixing, and updating them, and spend our developers valuable time away from our core app.
