Sage Fixed Assets

What do you like best?

Sage provides tax fixed assets rules updates on a regular basis and seems to have a solid grasp on the rules governing fixes assets both from a tax and GAAP perspective. The system layout is mostly easy to follow and includes all of the areas of focus and features I need in a fixed asset software.

What do you dislike?

Where Sage struggles is in it's import/export feature. It's clunky and awkward to use. It leaves you going through loops of continuous selections in order to export necessary reports. It takes tons of time to do this for all of our companies. Additionally, the import feature is nearly impossible to understand and figure out. Finally, the software is a bear to maintain and gets updates installed for. Our IT group has to keep extensive notes on what needs done in order to maintain the system and often times spends hours on the phone with technical support to get our updates installed.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It's relatively well priced, and does provide you with a platform to track, maintain, and calculate depreciation and fixed assets. The good times stop there. Everything in between is a bear. Really, overall, I don't think I would recommend Sage Fixed Assets. Check elsewhere first.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a tax staff, we maintain all of our tax fixed asset records in SAGE. They provide tax law updates and really help us ensure that we have accurate depreciation and property tax records available for compliance purposes.
