Quizizz for Formative Assessment
What do you like best?
Quizizz is a fun way to review and reteach concepts. Students are more likely to participate with a game-like atmosphere. I also like that there are so many features that let you customize it to meet the needs of your class. For example, you can set the pacing so the teacher controls it when you really need to reteach. You can also open the pacing so everyone can work through as fast or as slow as they need.
What do you dislike?
Sometimes it encourages students to rush through the questions rather than slowing down to think. I have to set the pacing or get rid of the timer so that students can slow down and not rush. I also would like it to show explanations for the correct answers so that students can see why they are getting problems wrong. I also would like an ease of use for uploading mathematics. Sometimes it is difficult to edit math formatting like square roots and fractions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it as a study guide! It really helps students feel encouraged to learn.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
It helps virtual learners join in and participate in class. Students are more willing to try and solve problems when they are competing against their friends. I also really like the fixed pacing to slow down the review and go over questions that are still arising. Students can also complete Quizizzs for homework which is really helpful. It can be set to have due dates and multiple attempts. Students also can use the large discover page to find even more Quizizz to practice.
