Today network and system admins are required to monitor everything connected to the network and fix problems before they impact end users. This includes physical and virtual devices, switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, cloud resources, services and applications and more – all of them provided my multiple vendors. When network services go down, the entire business starts losing money. Administrators need to find and fix problems fast – preferably before they impact end users or customers. They need to be able to see how everything is connected, what’s not working and what’s starting to slow down or fail. This has to be one single tool that is vendor agnostic and IT has to be able to report this network information to executives.

I like the Active Direcotry integration and reporting features. This was by far one of the more easy implementation software packages for monitoring I've used. We switched from SolarWinds because of the Supply Chain Attack and breach. We tested PRTG and Manage Engine as well. Only WhatsUpGold was able to provide the features we were using in SolarWinds.
The licensing is very straight forwared and easy to understand.
What do you dislike?
I want more intuitive installation and setup options. Use Active Directory to help automate the setup of reporting and monitoring. I found it a little difficult to setup some of the Active Directory monitoring options. With that being said, support was very helpful and assisted me in getting the options configured and setup for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The sales and support are beneficial and knowledgeable. This product is the closest option if you are in the position or need to replace SolarWinds. During the trial phase, I was able to get everything tested over about a 4 month period. I believe support was good enough to renew our trial license about 5 times to make sure we were able to test thourouhgly.
Support is excellent to deal with.
I would remmend to make sure you take the time you need to test all aspects of WUG out to make sure it will satify your needs. This was an excellent replacement for us when we removed Solarwinds.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We needed a solution to monitor our network devices and servers since the SolarWinds Supply Chain Attack issue. After looking into a couple of options, we decided to move forward with WhatsUpGold for the ease of use and the ease of setup.
