IBM SPSS Statistics Reviews

Powerful data analysis software

What do you like best?

The function is straightforward to understand. It helps analyze categorical variables; therefore, it is easy to teach students to use this software in coding data and running regression tables. They do not need to learn codes, just clicks. It is easier for me to teach than other softwares, such as R. In political science, some scholars and institutions tend to save their files in SPSS, so it is good to have this software in my toolbox.

What do you dislike?

The flexibility to change commands is lower than Stata and R, so it is not beneficial to run multiple files simultaneously. For instance, when I run a marginal effect graph, I need to change the graph's title manually. Honestly, it is a minor issue, but this way takes more time. Additionally, the cost is a bit higher for individual users compared to other statistical software.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

As a person who first steps into statistics, SPSS is a great tool to conduct more complex data analysis than using Excel.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I used it to analyze the national election survey. It is pretty straightforward in generating regression tables and plots.
