It allows to migrate across different Windows versions (such as 7 to 10), different hardware, 32bit to 64bit, different platforms (physical to physical, on-prem to Cloud, one Cloud vendor to another and so on).
It can migrate from a live machine, from a 3rd party backup, or even from a hard drive taken out of a dead PC.
