Zimbra Desktop - best free e-mail solution

What do you like best?

Zimbra Desktop is a free tool that presents a great alternative to paid solutions like Outlook.

It offers all the common and standardized features of the main email tools: support for POP and IMAP, integration with Gmail, Hotmail.

The interface is simple, but very pleasant for beginners, intermediate. Features like email filters, calendars, calendars are very well implemented. Anyway, it is a tool that owes nothing to expensive tools on the market.

What do you dislike?

The tool has few negative points, but we can mention some small points for improvement:

- installation is slow. It could be faster.

- importing emails that are already on other clients (like Outlook) is a little difficult for lay users.

- the integration with the mobile version of the application could be better.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Understand that every new tool is a challenge for lay users accustomed to tools established in the market. Here users have always used Outlook and switching to Zimbra was a little difficult. But with training, instructions and tutorials, they got used to the new interface and today they freely use the resources of this excellent tool.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The implementation of Zimbra Desktop in our company happened for financial reasons. As it is a free client and users prefer to use a local client instead of a webmail to be able to store their emails locally, we adopted this solution. At first it was a little difficult due to the new interface, but users quickly assimilated the features and location of the windows, buttons and options.
