Advanced user of VMware vCenterI like using vCenter to be able to bring all storage and hosts under one pane of glass and being able to manage it all. It is nice to be able to view the console of all machines as well instead of having to RDP or SSH into any of them. I do like having the integration of vCenter in our Veeam backup environment as well. It makes it so much easier to manage backups.
At times vCenter can be slow if not used for a while I have noticed. I usually just deal with it. As all things technology, subscriptions and licensing tends to get pricey, but that is just one thing you cannot do without.
I would recommend to others looking to use VMware to use vCenter to manage all hosts in one location and especially using HA. It does have a little added cost but undoubtedly worth it.
As said before, being able to manage all virtual machines in one spot makes it easier to manage them and saves time from having to use multiple programs to connect to the machines. Being able to use a web browser to connect to all of this makes it easier as well. Especially since it replaced the old C# client. The old desktop client was fast, but the HTML5 is about there, I would say. It is certainly better than the flash client that of course really doesn't work anymore.
