Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery

What do you like best?

I use the Unitrends Backup Appliance along with the cloud Backup and Retention service. I like the ease of setting up the backups and the process of restoring files and folders. One of the best features is the ability to startup a failed appliance on its own hardware to keep the business running while wer repair/replace the failed device.

What do you dislike?

The only thing that I dislike about the unit is that sometimes the backups will fail for a particular server and the only way to fix it is to reboot the server.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

After looking at several backup solutions, while Unitrends is in the middle cost wise, it has the features of the more expensive products and a pricepoint closer to the lower end products. Overall it does a great job protecting my environment and recoveries have been fast and painless.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have resolved the issues that come along with tape backup. we can now let this run on its own without changing tapes every day. when we have to recover something it takes minutes not hours to mount the tape and search for the files hoping the tape is not damaged.
