Splunk MINT

What do you like best?

Its easy to integrate, given you are on splunk cloud, but I chose the HEC route, it took me 2 days to realise that I need to hit a different API i.e. /services/collector/mint for it to work

What do you dislike?

- Documentation is limited, a little scattered too.

- The iOS and Android Sdks differ in implementation, for eg, extra data key-value pairs are capped in length and number for a given event.

- very less control on what you want to send and what you want to omit as part of the analytics json, the sdk does not even optimize on data like google analytics does, it keeps on spewing raw jsons, with same bunch of 10-20 key-values in each event! Could have been improved

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Dont use it, make your own little retry and save mechanism!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

At first it felt that the integration became easier, but now it feels that dependency on MINT wasted more time and got us behind schedule. The team could have build a custom event-collector-sdk in the same time period.
