SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor Reviews

Adam B.

Advanced user of SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
★★★★★
Excellent tool, cash efficient (@ 2ys+), my favorite in the suite. (Certified user of several years)

What do you like best?

Templates from thwack, app scanner, ability to go as deep as you have time for.

What do you dislike?

Custom script monitors have requirements which should be documented in-ui. Maybe even a query builder. Storing or recalling tables requires a lot of work. API monitor should be here rather in in the NPM UI in my opinion (or offered up as an option)

Unknown statuses are a common headache, albeit one with fixes.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I've built dozens-to-hundreds of templates at this point for enterprise vmware, sql, oracle etc applications. The first and most impactful layer of checks can be done pretty easily! Being able to launch into SQL or Powershell opens up everything else neatly too. Many issues have been fixed, troubleshot, or prevented entirely across my current and previous company, as well as a number of our clients.
