SAP MDG is a great product but needs to evolve with time.
What do you like best?
As a developer, having worked on SAP MDG extension projects, the experience was seamless. However, I would say need better support online in terms of documentation. Most of the documentation was either too old or not well classified.
SAP MDG's integration with Business Rules Framework is a treat for many customers and functional consultants who want to apply business rules to their data without the hassle of code changes.
So is the MDG's rule based workflow. It really simplifies both the creation and maintenance of Business Workflows.
What do you dislike?
Having interacted with several customers the need for better Fiori screens for SAP MDG is the need of the hour. Not sure SAP is really keen on that. NWBC just doesnt cut it anymore.
The SAP MDG's configuration is a really time consuming and difficult process. Would really love a better set up process.
Also the online material available for SAP MDG although great is not always the best source of information out there. Would love to see and improvement there.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SAP MDG would add great value to any organisation especially in terms of simplifying Master Data Governance processes. The application of business rules is lot easier and convenient through SAP MDG's integration with BRF+. Apart from this if coupled with SAP's very own Master Data Consolidation and Master Data Quality, it really becomes the whole package.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
The whole governance framework in SAP MDG is really well built and easy to use and extend. A lot of problems are solved and a lot of time is saved there.
The application of business rules is lot easier and convenient through SAP MDG's integration with BRF+. Apart from this if coupled with SAP's very own Master Data Consolidation and Master Data Quality, it really becomes the whole package.
