Advanced user of Project CalicoThe best thing about Calico is its simplicity. It works at L3 and has no encapsulation overhead, making it an efficient and a very scalable networking solution for containers.
While we can implement policies for security using Calico but it is not possible to have end-to-end packet encryption. Istio can be a solution for this problem but we haven't yet explored it yet.
If you are you going for simplicity and scalability, Calico is your way to go.
Our client needed a container networking plugin for their Kubernetes cluster which should be highly scalable, easier to debug and minimum networking overhead. Since Calico perfectly met their requirements, it was very easy to go with Calico.
