A relatively steep learning curve, but solid once you're familiar
What do you like best?
Features about Performio that I have liked:
Process automation - our month close process has shortened considerably
Transparency - the sales team can see their potential bonus at any point during the quarter and we can house their plan documentation within the platform
Our Implementation consultant - Janaki was wonderful getting us up to speed and then managing change orders that we needed implemented
Single Source of Truth - we now have one single source of truth for all of our sales compensation, which is wonderful
Plan documentation - we love that we can create, distribute, and collect signatures on plan documentation within the platform.
What do you dislike?
We've had some issues with the following aspects of Performio:
Change implementation - this could be a product of our implementation, but there are backend scripts that we cannot edit ourselves. This makes us dependent on Performio to help with change implementation (we've changed compensation plans after initial implementation)
The UI - There are aspects of using this that aren't super intuitive or easy to follow. It gets better with use, but it's not always ideal.
Lack of bulk editing: Reports within Performio are built on PVals - there are hundreds of extra PVals from our implementation that make creating/editing reports challenging as we have to wade through all of the extra PVals to find the ones that we want to report on. There's no way for us to hide these extra fields in bulk - they have to be manually hidden, one by one.
Fields can be additive instead of overwritten: Sometimes when switching participants to new plans Performio will simply add a new plan to a participant record rather than overwriting the existing value. This means that we'll suddenly end up with participants on multiple plans and then bonus calculations that don't work.
We had significant issues using this with Google SSO.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Performio has streamlined our month close and sales compensation processes while giving our sales team real-time visibility into their bonuses throughout the quarter. Before implementing Performio we calculated everything in Excel, which led to poor transparency and a less than ideal amount of visibility into what bonuses would look like for the sales team. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention our lead implementation consultant, Janaki. She was absolutely incredible in helping us get set up with Performio and then implementing changes to the platform as we modified our compensation plans.
