Essential tool for prepping new systems
What do you like best?
PDQ Deploy has a solid set of pre-packaged installers and they make it easy to create your own custom installers.
The ability to create nested packages makes this software a must have for full system deployments.
I currently have nested packages setup for system groups, a single deploy will install everything from browsers to MS Office products in minutes.
What do you dislike?
Currently you have to change your VPN setup to be able to push to remote (work form home) systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to free trial and play around with the software, once you see how much more efficient this product can make you or your team, it's an easy sell to management just in time saved.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Pushing registry edit keys, updating software and pushing new software to currently deployed systems.
Using PDQ Deploy to prep a new out-of-the-box system has cut my prep time down per machine by hours; the ability to push to multiple machines increases that efficiency even further.
You can also fashion packages to silently uninstall products ranging from full blown software installs to pesky annoyances such as coupon printers and search bars.
