Nmap

What do you like best?

There is nothing any other comprehensive tool like Nmap. This is favorite tool for me same as network administrators, pentesters, security analysts and hackers. We normally used it in every vulnerability assessment and penetration testing with need basis. Normally we used it day today activities. I used this more than 6 years in my job life and every day I saw different kind of features. Some features I don't know they are really exist but when I got issue, we normally google it and google say each and every solution available in Nmap. We used normally identify ports, connected services, create a graphs, identify certificate issues, enabled encryption solution etc...

Also it comes with most Linux distros that makes life easier. If you have any issue with Nmap, there are lot of tutorials, articles, cheat sheets, videos around the www. Even industry leading big software also use this as a major supportive tool.

Also it comes with handy scripting engine.

What do you dislike?

I don't know who ever this feel. But sometimes I get bit different results when get same report through Nmap and Zenmap. Also I noticed when using Kali Linux and Parrot also give different results when scanning same target. I'm confused!

This is the all on one tool every network administrator, security analyse, security engineer, pentester and hecker must have. You could find every sloution from for you need, if not learn hoe to use Nmap script engine.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The biggest advantage what I got is when attacking WannaCry ransomware, there is no tool to detect vulnerable machines on most of clients network so far. But we able to manage Nmap's grate scripting engine with SMB enable checking script. That was saved our lives.

I'm still using Nmap for my VAPT requirements.
