MyCase REALLY tries!

What do you like best?

MyCase is always improving. If they see a feature that their customers need, they build it and roll it out as quickly and seamlessly as possible. They have come a long way since we first transitioned to MyCase in 2016. Their latest integration with MS Office 365, for example, fixed a point of pain for us with regard to version control and document storage. It's not seamless, but it is so much better.

What do you dislike?

I do not like being forced to use their payment processing system. Their integrations with MS Office and Quickbooks can best be described as "messy" - they work, but they are hardly elegant. I hate that I still have to associate every single email with the case it goes to because the internal email client and calendar are just not up to par with Outlook and the integration with MS365 is just not there. I hate that it opens documents on my desktop and syncs them in an automated process rather than simply storing the documents in Sharepoint and opening them in MS365. These are industry standards, and it would be simpler to work with MS365 than to have all these workarounds. I hate that MyCase is stuck with simple ToDo lists and a weak docketing system that leaves us no choice but to do double data entry into a project management system (Basecamp) instead of having it all in one place. I hate that they make it so difficult to associate a contact with multiple cases that my staff has to resort to setting up the same contact multiple times. We've been using the system for years now, and there are still so many workarounds.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We need all of our case data in a single place. For the most part, MyCase does that with a document repository and version control linked to each matter. It gets the basic stuff right, including trust accounting and reporting and the client portal.
