M1 is subscription cloud-based ERP software for manufacturers, enabling you to tie your business operations together in one system to centralize your data. It lets you coordinate and share data across various functions within your business from sales, inventory, scheduling, production, shipping, and more.
The solution is suitable for small to midsize companies that manufacture via repetitive, make-to-stock, make-to-order and engineer-to-order processes.
M1’s product configurator provides a multi-level, automated configuration that builds product configurations from a BOM, including all sub-assemblies. Users can also add additional rules and formulas after the wizard is complete.
The system also offers features for inventory barcoding, shop floor control and customizable reporting through integration with Crystal Reports.
Other key features include free “view only” licenses for users who only need to view and edit reports, “Smart Screen Technology” that automatically changes screens based on users’ input and a free M1 Design Studio that allows users to customize the system without accessing the source code or requiring extensive programming knowledge.

What do you like best?
First, M1 runs on an elegantly designed SQL database. The database structure makes it easy for everyday users to gather and parse data to make good business decisions.
Second, the on-premise software can be customized without compromising the integrity of the core product. This makes it extremely useful for unique business environments.
What do you dislike?
The cloud-based version limits the ability to customize the software for your business' unique situation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any software purchase and implementation, your experience will be best if you understand your current business processes well.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We have built on M1's CRM by customizing it to accommodate our project-based sales team. (Most CRM's including M1's assume that a "lead" is the same as a person. In our business, we are identifying construction projects that might use our product. The person shows up much later in the process.) We have had great success in using M1 this way.
Because M1 covers all aspects of our business, we use it to track every activity from the moment we identify a project in our sale effort to the moment we ship the last piece for that project. It has helped us keep control of our costs at every moment.
