Fairly Average Accounting Software -- Old Interface, Well Updated

What do you like best?

* The software is upgraded often and patches seem to be well tested internally before release.

* We have never had a failure during our patching process, knock on wood.

* Optimization seems alright, although you may find my thoughts on this in the dislike list.

* Fairly solid / stable software. In the time it has been used at my workplace, it has never been the source of a direct failure.

What do you dislike?

* Seemingly required to use this software in my industry -- not that this is necessarily the worst thing in the world.

* Optimization is average at best -- the program is sluggish, even on modern hardware. I wonder if a faster database backbone would help.

* Old GUI -- difficult to learn and navigate without prior experience.

* Upgrade process isn't awful, but could be more user friendly. Again, there's a small learning curve and we check notes when updating for procedure.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Well, it's not difficult to recommend.

The software is fairly decent and is rock solid stable.

Haven't really had more than a couple security scares over the year from the company, as well.

Most of the time, when using this software, it seems to be closer to a requirement than a choice, though.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems being solved:

* Accounting software for a government entity.

* Record keeping, depreciation, payroll entity information, etc.

Benefits realized:

* Software functions for core purposes and to solve core problems.

* After the learning curve, it comes pretty naturally, and seems to work well.
