Awesome social networking SDK to take your games K-Factor to the next level...
What do you like best?
I got in touch with GetSocial to implement their SDK into my mobile racing game. My goal was to get my players to get as many of their friends as possible into the game.
I got a quick response, and their CEO took an hour of his time to get on a call with me and discuss a social strategy for getting players to invite their friends to play my game in the most sensible, frictionless way possible.
We went into detail about screen design and layout.
I left the meeting realizing how important getting your players to invite their friends at precisely the right point in the onboarding process is and what opportunities there are to make your players your best marketers!
Their Unity SDK is easy to implement, and everything the documentation is straightforward and comprehensive.
If I have a question, I get an email response sometimes within minutes.
The app has built-in support for many different social networking apps, especially WhatsApp, which is almost the messaging standard.
What do you dislike?
My only wish would be that their SDK had better support for desktop platforms such as PC and WebGL, but I understand due to the lack of social applications available on these platforms that the same level of integration on mobile is not possible.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Players inviting their friends at a critical point in the onboarding process is a game-changer.
The invite is a challenge for the friend to beat the player in a certain race, with the original sender rewarded either way is a powerful strategy.
The in-game chat is another feature we will be implementing, which will allow players to discuss in-game and challenge each other to tournaments and one-off multiplayer races.
