HPE Datera Is Certainly A Tough Competitor For VxFlex OS Under SDS:

What do you like best?

What we observe is that this particular product supports object based storage. Which is most useful, when compare to other product form DELL EMC (VxFlexOS) in our portfolio. Deployment is simple and very straight forward. Also though it is new product compare to VxFlex OS and it scored well in getting confidence deploying at Enterprise level with different applications and high IO load, without any performance challenges.

What do you dislike?

1.The most important aspect is that vendor itself have no structured training on this product, in order to accustom before having this deployed in production. 2. There is a bug in 3.2.9 version - that "Failed SAS SSD Device" on one of the backend storage nodes caused an outage of becoming all data-stores unavailable. Datera Engineering advised to upgrade the OS to 3.3 version and also Enable Adaptive Queue Depth on all ESXi hosts to make the environment more resilient for hisser latency and potential SCSI ABORTS - in order to address the issue permanently. However they provided an additional custom to patch until implementing the permanent fix.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are leveraging Datera capabilities of of both "Block & Object Storage" reduced time in deployment
