Check Point DLP blade

What do you like best?

1. Check Point UI - the configuration of the Data Loss Prevention is simple and understandable for the people without previous experience with such solutions

2. Reach set of the predifined types of content to analyze

3.Multiply languages for the analize are supported (we use both English and Russian)

4. The DLP blade is integrated in the Check Point Gateway software, so there's no need to deploy any additional components into your infrastructure

5. The contnet is analyzed on the Gateway side, so there's no need to install any software on the clients side (PC, laptops etc.)

6. If you have Check Point Smart Event enabled, the DLP balde alerts are automatically processed within it as well

What do you dislike?

For Check Point Management Server version R80.10, the DLP configuraion is performed in the outdated Smart Dashbord instead of the unified Smart Console

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good solution to prevent your office from data leakage (by both emplyes or malware), but I don't think you need that in your datacenter. In such a case, just don't purchase this software blade.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Check Point Data Loss Prevention software blade is part of the Next Generation Firewall and Next Generation Threat Prevention solutions and may be activated on Check Point Gateways and Clusters. We have it enbaled & configured only on our CP clusters located in the offices, to protect from the data leaks by employes or malware. We don's use DLP in our datacenters.

The solution is effective and reach on the features. We analyze mostly txt and pdf files to prevent the leakage of sensitive customer data (which is the part of the PCI DSS and HIPAA compliance regulations).

The DLP policy is flexible in the configurations.

The reporting/logging capabilities are just amazing (Check Point was always good in that). We have Smart Event enabled to alert on DLP incidents, and addtionally integrated Check Point with ELK for external logging.
