Changepoint Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Reviews

good software for portfolio management and project management

What do you like best?

I like the project overview that the software offers, with the different views, it is easy to filter and customize different project data.

Also resource allocation at project level, it is easy to allocate resources in "Resources" app, even more if you do the schedule and the automatically import the resources for the allocation.

Global views for the dynamic applications are also very useful

What do you dislike?

the portoflio overview is a bit limited, and I think this tool could be improved.

Something that I do not like the that it is not possible to allocate resource at task level, just a project level. If the schedule is ready with resource allocation, it should be ideal that then allocation is also at the task level and not project level

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You should collect requirements form all key users and stakeholders first. Ensure they are involved since the beginning to avoid double or triple working later.

It is good to have a first solution ready to be roll out to everyone soon, but I think it is better to align before doing that, as at the end, it will save time and effort, as the more feedback you collect at the beginning the less work you avoid in the future.

Alos, I would recommend to do not roll out a complicated solution so users get lost on how many options they have in the software. Better to roll out waves of features so they can get used to it, and then can handdle more complicated features

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

in my company, one of the key issues we are solving is project visibility across business units. Having all projects in the system is a really good way to improve it.

Also resource allocation visibility, as we can see resources across locations, what in the past was not possible
