Fraudulent Pricing & Sales Practices - Do NOT Use Avalara

What do you like best?

Their software is ok at best. But overall their software is not user friendly.

What do you dislike?

They lie to their customers when selling their product.

Avalara will quote you x amount to get you to sign up, then out of nowhere, they will upgrade your account and charge you significantly more.

They will then claim that you signed a document (multi page jargon filled book) that outlined the pricing strategy. This is completely not transparent. If their slimy sales person was actually honest and told me that we would be charge nearly a $1 every time a customer checked out on our website, I never in a million years would have signed up.

Their customer service is also terrible.

Que the generic response from Avalara to say that I can email them to "fix" the problem. Too late to fix anything when you make sales by misleading customers.

It's no co-incidence that they don't have a pricing page on their website, they purposely intend to mislead customers about their pricing until after they have paid.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Avalara calculates how much sales tax your company owes. No benefits because they lied to us about their pricing strategy and we will be cancelling and moving to a different solution.
