Barracuda Web Security and Filtering is a really good filtering product but difficult to figure out.
What do you like best?
I work for an Elder Services non-profit company, and one of our biggest struggles has been trying to find something that is HIPAA compliant and works well on all of our computers. the Barracuda Web Security and Filtering product does a good job of keeping us HIPAA compliant all of the time so I never have to worry about second-guessing compliance.
What do you dislike?
Although the Barracuda Web Security and Filtering product is a really good product for filtering and HIPAA compliance, trying to figure it out took some time. There are a lot of settings but I'm still trying to figure out where some of them are. I've had to call Barracuda support a few times to try to find a setting a few times, and they've always been nice and helpful, but some of the setting locations just don't make sense to me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Barracuda Web Security and Filtering is a really good product and is helps keep us HIPAA compliant. I think our biggest struggle was trying to get it setup and implemented. We had a lot of questions and needed some guidance to get everything initially configured and talking with Office 365 and LDAP, but once we did it has been working really well. There are some struggles trying to find some settings, but Barracuda support has always been helpful and has always answered all of my questions. We are a non-profit company, so I really would suggest taking a look at the Barracuda Web Security and Filtering product if you are HIPAA compliant too, as it can help keep you compliant too.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Because we are HIPAA compliant, the Barracuda Web Security and Filtering product has helped by always keeping us complaint. That compliance is now something that I no longer worry about or lose sleep over. Once we were able to get the Barracuda product setup and working correctly, it took all of those headaches away and because of the automatic updates, we don't have to worry about keeping on top of updates and patches.
