Coherence mode is excellent because it overlays your Mac desktop and lets you seamlessly run 2 OSs in one Desktop rather than running in an application window, though you can run it that way.
Occasionally the VM becomes corrupted, and you have to restore it from a backup,
I have to run some Windows applications at my office but don't want a Windows computer, so Parallels has solved that issue. I have used Parallels for years, and it has always performed well. In some cases, it runs faster on a Mac than on an actual PC hardware!
