What do you like best?
It is very good for accounting, has a passable timekeeping system.
What do you dislike?
Very clunky. Laggy when the database is large. You can't leave it open overnight as it disconnects from the server with backup. Interface is slow. Very little is automated. The bills it generates are so obtuse that clients always call asking what do the bills even mean. I have to create summaries in MS Word. Correcting spelling errors in disbursement entries in a very slow process. If I put in the wrong hourly rate (ie, my hourly rate for a legal aid file or a discounted hourly rate file), I have to manually change each and every entry which is an extremely slow process. I can't make custom forms without getting admin privileges from the firm. It has been inordinately difficult to do such things as remove a "total tax" line from the template bill when the "total tax" line doesn't even set out all of the tax (it sets out GST only instead of combined GST and PST).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't use PC Law
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I'm a lawyer so I need timekeeping and trust accounting software. PC Law is very good with trust accounting. Not very good with timekeeping. Since I do mostly timekeeping because I am not the owner of the firm I don't get much in terms of benefits.
