What do you like best?
Firm Central is fantastic for entering time, including setting time as billable or non-billable, and seeing daily and weekly summaries. The ability to see an overview of my time each week is helpful to make sure I am accurately tracking my hours (and is a great reminder for when I need to bill a little more). It is also incredibly useful to be able to easily access an earlier week and stay on that week's page when entering old data, rather than having to manually enter old dates repeatedly when adding billing hours. This is especially useful when double checking a prior month's totals are accurate.
I also enjoy the ability to access Westlaw from the Firm Central homepage.
What do you dislike?
Firm Central does not make it easy or clear to see what payments a client has made or when, and it is difficulty to determine at a quick glance when clients owe a balance. It is also my understanding that the billing system overall is not an improvement to our old system. My main use of Firm Central is entering time and accessing Westlaw, so I do not have complaints, but I am aware our office manager had to request additional tech support multiple times to learn how to navigate the Firm Central system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend Firm Central for its ease of billing data entry. However, I would compare its ease of access to payment and client information to other billing services when looking for a new service, as that aspect of Firm Central is not that intuitive.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Our firm has solved the problem of access to billing services; we previously used a service that did not let every billing employee access the system at the same time. If too many people were using our old service, someone trying to access the service would have to request access and wait for the system to refresh to be able to access the billing services.
