Building Scale Out Applications on IBM Cloud Private
What do you like best?
As an integrated environment, ICP provides all of the tools, services and maanagement interfaces for my teams to build scalable microservice applications. These are widely used open standard technologies around which I can build team competencies, hire staff with prior knowledge, and develop shared best practice architecture, code and process patterns.
Furthermore, the ICP platform is an easy stepping stone between private and public cloud environments. This facilitates experimentation of scale out, provides internal DevOps choices, and takes many of the public cloud vs private cloud technology debates off the table.
What do you dislike?
During the early availability of ICP there were minor stability and incompatibility issues. My teams battled through these, unsure if it was gaps in their knowledge, misconfiguration or genuine platform issues.
