Decent for billing and order entry
What do you like best?
Xifin was a pretty solid system for billing and entering patient demographics and for electronic claims submission. Our department used it to collect payments, enter patient info, submit claims. It also was beneficial in identifying errors that could cause claim denials for something silly like a missing subscriber relation or gender and catching it before a claim went out with error causing data.
What do you dislike?
I disliked that I could not have the order entry screen and Xifin screen open on the same patient. Even though I was the same person in both accounts, it would lock me out. This makes sense to lock out an account while one person is editing however it was inconvenient if it was the same person. Also the system also updated every end of month and when you're in billing, your month end close could happen two days after the actual month end which really interfered with us making quotas on time. It was definitely a running joke in our company. I would not recommend if month end is a crucial part of the work flow.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
One of the benefits we found were being able to check eligibility for larger commercial payors by clicking the check eligibility function. We added it on for access and it helped save time on verifying each payor entered into each account however we did have an instance where this function wasn't working and it took a few months to fix. Can't say the IT for the system was the greatest as IT tickets would take a few months before we even had a status.
