Companies like Intercontinental Exchange, Taylor Fry, The New York Stock Exchange, IAG, First State Super, Akamai, Morningstar, and NASA use UpGuard’s security ratings to protect their data, prevent data breaches and assess their security posture.

UpGuard Vendor Risk (https://www.upguard.com/product/vendorrisk) can minimize the amount of time your organization spends assessing related and third-party information security controls by automating vendor questionnaires and providing vendor questionnaire templates.

We can help you continuously monitor your vendors’ external security controls and provide an unbiased security rating.

We can also help you instantly benchmark your current and potential vendors against their industry, so you can see how they stack up.

For the assessment of your information security controls, UpGuard BreachSight (https://www.upguard.com/product/breachsight) can monitor your organization for 70+ security controls providing a simple, easy-to-understand security rating and automatically detect leaked credentials and data exposures in S3 buckets, Rsync servers, GitHub repos and more.

The major difference between UpGuard and other security ratings vendors is that there is very public evidence of our expertise in preventing data breaches and data leaks.

Our expertise has been featured in the likes of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, Forbes, Reuters, and TechCrunch.

UpGuard - Good Third-Party (and Self) Attack Surface Management

What do you like best?

The UpGuard platform is very user friendly and covers a lot of ground from an external perspective. In particular, the ongoing evaluation of your own organization, third parties, and even competitors makes the platform very informative. UpGuard is continually adding new features to the platform.

What do you dislike?

One of the issues I've had ongoing with UpGuard is, what seems to be, continuous algorithm changes to the scoring. This has caused much consternation when providing information form the platform at the executive and board level. In October 2020, UpGuard did a major algorithm change to the scoring which has dropped the scores significantly. While they were transparent, about this particular algorithm change, it nonetheless skews historical trends and now it will require justification of the drop in even our own score to executive management and BOD.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The UpGuard suite has advanced a lot in the last couple of years. However, know that you will see algorithms changed from time-to-time. While this is a good thing as the platform develops and becomes more advanced, it can cause drops in ratings, which inevitably must be justified and explained over a set of trends.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Baselining our external perceived security posture and attack surface. Using this baseline to compare ourselves against our vendors and even our competition.
