Advanced user of theFundedTheFunded seems to be a good place to get information about VC and startups. Because they curate their members carefully, most people on there seem to know what it is they're talking about.
I dislike quite a few things. The site itself is really ugly and unintuitive. Also, the sign-up process seems kind of silly, too. According to the sign up page, you have to be a CEO, founder, lawyer, service provider, or limited partner (as verified by your LinkedIn information) in order to join. Why not have a way where you can sign up and read about VC without actually being in VC?
If you can join, good for you. If you are intimidated by the sign-up restrictions, try looking for a local forum or other site where you can start a VC thread. Even LinkedIn is probably a fine option. Also, if you live in the Midwest, BuiltInChicago.org is a great place to start.
