What do you like best?

I like the flexibility of Teradata and being able to "own your query" - no strict syntax rules or spacing issues. You can navigate around very quickly and makes quick , ad hoc reporting very easy to do.

What do you dislike?

Too niche and not leverage-able. Teradata syntax is awful to work with. Realize it's to get users and companies into the Teradata ecosystem, but it's so hard to readjust. Most (mid, large) companies will use Teradata in conjuction with something else (SQL Server, MySQL, ...) but the constant change of Teradata vs. regular SQL syntax is awful! Slows down a lot of work and we're spent rewriting things all the time.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Think about standardizing elements to be more in line with standard SQL. Niche complications don't make a great user experience.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Real-time querying and large data extraction. We plug into a number of data sources and expect reliable, real-time data to flow through. Additionally, allow users to easily access it and extract clean info. We use Teradata via Aqua Data Studio. Overall satisfied, but not terribly impressed.
