What do you like best?

Spinfire has been supporting the 3D Mechanical CAD industry for many years. They know what I need to see when I am looking at 3D CAD data. Exploding assemblies, PMI annotations, Attributes such as material type and specifications, thickness of metal parts, and a good look at the eBOM of any assembly. The optional Converter utility gives us the ability to convert native CAD formats to neutral files such as IGS or STEP.

What do you dislike?

The product was completely re-written a year or two ago, and since that time some of our methods have had to change. As of now there are more features than ever, but there are a few bugs and sometimes crashes related to the handling of all the different graphics cards that our users have in their workstations.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We receive a lot of CATIA and NX CAD files from our customers. Most of our users have no CAD experience, and do not have access to a CAD workstation. Spinfire enables users from our engineers, program managers, manufacturing personnel, and shipping clerks to see what the part is supposed to look like, measure it, cut sections, and view all the associated meta-data.
