Advanced user of SolidWorks CAMI have used it in my 2nd year of Engineering. Actually starting with this add-on will give you better compatibility with your design and manufacturing process. It is compatible with all the tools of SolidWorks CAD and gives a complete overview of manufacturing during the designing process. Again it provides higher machining facilities and it really works like a magic wandрџЂ. It is a great tool for manufacturing companies and saves a lot of time .
Actually Solid CAM is not that cheap. You have to pay a handsome amount. But you can have a trial. This piece requires somehow high configuration of your computer and sometime crushes.

I found it most handy for processing a design for manufacturing. The main goal of a product design is giving it a shape. This tool helped me to do exactly the same.
