Advanced user of Red Hat SatelliteIt comes from Red Hat, so the support is one-stop. It handles all the repos we could want. It groups hosts flexibly enough for our needs. It runs overnight, so we don't waste time during the workday. It can integrate with Insights, though we don't use that. It will patch our hosts in AWS.
It' a little opaque when there are errors, necessitating a support ticket. Sometimes the jobs lock up, which requires manual intervention. It won't patch CentOS, but we don't care since we have migrated off of that operating system.
We use it for the main roles: RHEL patch distribution, scheduling, and enforcement. It has made our patching windows run much more smoothly and simply than when we ran Solaris 10 hosts! It's especially nice to lock in a set of patches that we can push out in successive waves, and have confidence that the first machines patch will get the same patches as the last ones done.
