Advanced user of RebelleThe interaction between liquid simulation and the underlying paper textures is stunningly realistic. Users are offered the ability to set a tilt angle and amount of tilt, for the paper, which allows careful control of the surface flow of the liquid simulation. Colors blend naturally in this process as is shown in my screenshot below. There are simulations for other media as well such as graphite pencil, acrylic paint, pastel, and ink. The interface is simple to master and does not get in the way of workflow.
While I don't really have any large complaints, I would like to see additional tools such as symmetry, perspective assisted drawing and support for even larger images. If the image size selected is over 5K the simulation can slow down a bit causing interruptions in creative flow unless you have a top spec machine.
If you are interested in creating artwork that simulates realistic media so well that it has fooled experts, you can't go wrong choosing Rebelle. It is among the best available.
Visual development, conceptual art, and design. I create imagery which has the purpose of communicating visual ideas to clients in film, advertising, video games, and package design. I also provide finished illustrations for the web as well as traditional publishing. Rebelle allows me to work with tools that so closely simulate real media, that I am not encumbered by the interface but encouraged to play through the organic processes normally found in real materials. When I can cause a simulation to mimic the interplay of watercolor with all its attendant "happy accidents", it really steps my art game to the top.
