Great project management tool that guides you through the project management process
What do you like best?
I like the integration of the elements of the system.
PiaB provides an overview tool for guiding your project management journey through a file explorer system. The PiaB explorer tightly integrates with the PiaB Gantt Chart scheduling tool. Data is captured in well thought out Microsoft Office templates; available through the file explorer, with an inbuilt revisioning system. PiaB also allows you to introduce your own documentation into the project and applies the same revisioning tools to those documents.
PiaB provides a flow chart approach to guiding you through the project management process. The flow charts open the file explorer to show the documents that are relevant to the selected stage of the project. The flow charts allow the project manager to navigate to and focus on the pertinent parts of the project.
PiaB has excellent online support with a YouTube channel providing many training videos. Support by email is also available and receives prompt responses.
The PiaB project management approach works well, helping to manage the complexities of project management in a package that you can use free of charge.
What do you dislike?
There is very little that I don't like about PiaB. For some people, it might take a while to understand the concepts but the approach is logical and guides you through the whole project management process from initiating a project through to closure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Trial the Community Edition which is free of charge for life. This will give you a good idea of what PiaB offers. I could have managed my project using the Community Edition; however, I wanted to adopt the Online Version and to use some of the other paid-for features.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I am running a project to introduce a software package into the company that I work for, across 30 different countries. The project has many challenges that require processes development as well as close analysis of the challenges and risks. PiaB combined with their PRINCE2 Method template is helping me to approach the project logically.
