What do you like best?
I'll enthusiastically recommend PowerPost for any organization looking to build a body of rich content on their site, whether it's because the org is challenged for bandwidth to produce and manage content, or simply because the org is struggling to wrap their heads around a content program in the first place. Not only does the software itself make it easy to source content, keep tabs on competitors, collaborate on posts, and analyze the results - the team over at PowerPost does a phenomenal job researching, writing excellent and thoughtful content, and helping keep momentum up from an account management standpoint. I work in a startup environment and am often in 'triage mode' for how I allocate my hours every day, and PowerPost has made it possible to keep producing content that I'm proud of while handling other pressing matters. I would enthusiastically recommend the team to anybody exploring content options.
What do you dislike?
Can't find anything to complain about. I received a new account manager + writer team a couple months into our engagement and they were much better suited for the type of writing we needed. I guess the only thing I would change is I wish I had time to be better engaged with them on a weekly basis - which is part of the reason why we hired them in the first place - but that's not a knock on PowerPost, as much as it is something to be aware of when contracting any kind of writing support.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't expect them to take the entire content management lift off your plate - if you care about the content associated with your brand, you should never expect a vendor to work in a silo. PowerPost will take great initiative and run with both research and production, but the engagement will be most successful if you're able to consistently communicate your vision and provide feedback as they iterate on your brand's "voice."
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
They support us in pushing out a steady stream of thoughtful, original, high-quality content, at a volume I couldn't keep up with myself (and probably couldn't maintain that volume if I were sourcing, educating, and managing freelance copywriters either). As a result, we've established the first dedicated knowledge base on the internet for our field of expertise. It's validating for people who visit our site, and accumulating original content over time is also a strong way to boost organic search results.
