This tool is the best for our asphalt and agg plants
What do you like best?
The best thing about PlantDemand is how easy it is for me to get a lot of information. The orders are live, shared and easy to enter for my sales staff, plant operators, and the rest of my group. I can get input materials needed in a few seconds for the upcoming days, weeks, or months to share with my suppliers. Our operation has benefitted a ton from PlantDemand. My plant operators really like it, and even our loader operators and ground men use it to see what is coming up on the schedule.
We also use it for budgeting, and this makes life a lot easier. We looked for a tool like this for a long time, and got to partner with them to give feedback for what our needs were. We got our entire region (9 plants) up an running in 2 days, and only spent a few minutes on training for our plant crews.
The PlantDemand team is awesome! We love it!
What do you dislike?
Could be a bit difficult to get orders entered on an iphone because of screen size, but Ive heard they are releasing an app soon that makes it even easier. It still was very usable on a phone, but that was the only thing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its great for us at Granite. If you give plantdemand your orders, materials and mix designs, they can get your information in and you can be up and using at a plant or two in a day. Its so easy, your team will pick it up without you having to train them. The more advanced features are pretty easy too, but might take a few minutes to pick up.
If you are using it currently, look for creative ways on how you can utilize it to help your business. We keep coming up with different ways it helps us, and you probably will too.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I used to spend about 3 hrs per week calculating material needs to share with suppliers. Our sales people would first need to update our shared excel calendar which would take them a few hours too. For them to make orders on our Outlook calendar, they would have to copy a template over each time, and it was not even access-able on a mobile device.
Now, suppliers can have our material demands in about a minute. Sales people can enter or change orders in a couple of seconds.
Also, we can see upcoming issues a lot easier. For example if two different types of oil are needed in a single day, or if we had 4 different mixes scheduled for a day (we only have 3 silos at most of our plants). It adds up your daily sales quantities, so our sales people don't have to when on the phone with a customer to see if they can schedule them.
Several of our other regions are using it too and really like it. They send out daily dispatch reports to the whole team with a click of a button. These are auto-generated so its pretty easy. We have been able to pull together our asphalt oil purchase needs so that we can get bulk pricing from refineries. This has saved us TONS of money.
All around an awesome tool. I cant imagine going back to our old excel sheet.
