Parrot Security OS Reviews

Parrot Security OS is better than Kali Linux in many ways.

What do you like best?

As the name implies, parrot security OS is a Security OS. The main thing I love about it is the simplistic GUI and light to run. It runs in a system with low specifications and heats the system way less than Kali Linux. It has even more tools than Kali Linux and is mainly focused for defensive than offensive. I love to work in Command Line Interface and being Linux (Debian distro like Kali Linux) it perfectly fits the criteria and even has root user access. The pre-installed Tor browser impressed me the most. It never crashed in mid of nowhere. Even my parents who are unfamiliar to pen-testing and security can use it securely due to its advanced firewall and other built in defensive security measures. It don't only have tools for Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing but also comes with a lot of powerful languages' compilers and interpreters and IDEs. That came in handy as I am learning python and didn't need to install and configure it.

What do you dislike?

There are very few things I don't like about it. But playing games is very difficult as you don't find a way to install them. Many of the applications such as Ms. Word and many other applications equally necessary for a students are not available for Parrot Security OS which made me re-install windows. Configuring and using dedicated GPUs was almost impossible letting me down with neural network and brute-force that are more powerful using GPUs. The community for parrot security OS isn't big that left me alone with some issues.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I did python programming, digital forensics and penetration testing using the Parrot Security OS. The main benefit for me was it was way more lighter and secured as compared to its competitor (Kali Linux).
