Oracle Tuxedo Reviews

Alison S.

Advanced user of Oracle Tuxedo
★★★★★
Oracle Tuxedo - a necessary tool with PeopleSoft

What do you like best?

The ease of it working with Weblogic, and granular tuning for different server processes

What do you dislike?

command line interface a bit stodgy, but effective and it works

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure that you read up on how this acts as the client to the backend and communicates with Weblogic. Ready everythign you can on command line to supplement and the psadmin shell and use as a backup. Also, read up on tuning and the reason behind each of the server processes, and capacity planning algorithms/formulas. Read any of the red papers on high availability, and be careful about load balancing and how to achieve, with or without a front end load balancer and the the different internal levels.

Make sure you also read up about how integration broker and hub operations work for messaging, native and 3rd party, again along with Weblogic and gateways. Also read up on cloud approach, and also automatic config management and deployment and how that works in setting up Tuxedo and other ancillary infrastructure.

Tuxedo is the central point of entry into your PeopleSoft systems, either for web or batch operations and both require particular tuning knowledge.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Throughput and availability of the PeopleSoft systems we use, and efficiency by server process individually and as a whole
