Advanced user of Oracle TimesTenthe core value of TimesTen is its embed-ability i.e. it can even run inside of telecom call control switch or session controller. it requires minimum resources from operation system. requires almost zero CPU power when running simple primary key search. this lightweight aspect is the strongest advantage of TimesTen even more than "all sit on memory" which is also great.
not a dislike but TT should be placed at right usage. for general purpose database where a lot of different types of queries are requested, especially analytics type of usage, you should go with regular Oracle DB or Data Warehouse products.
Access your use case, validate execution ability ie right technical resources to correctly implement TT and good support from the vendor, then you're all set to go, you'll be pleased by the great outcome
Single row marching - session control, managing login / logout, massive survey, financial services trading, in memory replication for high availability, and many more.
