Advanced user of OpenSMPTDIt's much easier to configure than say Postfix or Sendmail. I've been working with both Sendmail and Postfix for many many years and Postfix was a huge list from Sendmail. But OpenSMTPD it's even more easy to get up and running. It's syntax is very much like the syntax of pf.
I also like that OpenSMTPD comes from the OpenBSD project. That itself is a mark of quality.
I had some trouble implementing Spamassasin with OpenSMTPD the first it tried it. But not could just be me as it was my first time with OpenSMPTD. As with any new application, it takes time getting used to.
Read the website, the manpages and all other resource you can about OpenSMTPD and you'll find that it's pretty easy to get up and running. Of course, everything new is hard in the beginning. If you on the other hand have previous experience from OpenBSD and pf, you'll find yourself at home right from the start.
As with any such software as OpenSMTPD, you'll need to understand the SMTP protocol and how mail delivery works!
Switch from Postfix to OpenSMTPD, first of all has given me more spare time since it's easier to setup. Secondly I couldn't get Postfix to work at all inside Docker, but OpenSMTPD "just works" out of the box.
