Municode - Helpful Ecosystem of Public Sector Products
What do you like best?
Much like any good tech company, Municode has built an integrated ecosystem of products that meet the core technology needs of cities. On top of that, they provide prompt and professional customer service after you've signed up - a rarity, it seems, in most public sector technology companies.
What do you dislike?
Nitpicking, showing how great Municode is, but they provide a public meeting video timestamping service that, in my opinion, should be automated. Instead of me reaching out to ask for them to timestamp specific meetings, I should be able to provide them with the day and time of each session (which are planned out a year in advance by state law), and they take care of that in the background, so I don't have to worry about it. An automated timestamping service would be invaluable for smaller cities like mine where I have so many different roles, and responsibilities, automation of anything is a huge win.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I'm a millennial, so the scatterbrained and manual approach of Meeting agenda creation and minute taking before Municode Meetings software was a headache. Now I can create the meeting, upload the content, send it through a workflow, and post straight to our website in one place. Our Municode self codification software skips the middle man we used to pay to codify our ordinances and allows us to edit code and create rules, or law changes, saving a lot of time and money. The Municode website we use brings all of the pieces together. The software previously mentioned all integrate seamlessly into the Municode site and are easy for anyone to manage or create content. Instead of going through our website manager that we pay, I can edit and update my applicable portions of the city site whenever and however I want.
